At Luke 10:27, the word elder describes those persons who have been set apart by God to spiritually lead the body of Christ. When an elder receives a word from the Lord to share with the body, he or she lets Lonnie know and is scheduled to preach. Leadership decisions at Luke are not made by voting, but through prayer and consensus.
Our elders function in the 5-fold ministry: pastor, prophet, teacher, apostle and evangelist. As a missional church, the elders support the non-profit ministries God has birthed at Luke 10:27 to bridge ethnic diversity in our community and to bring healing to its people.
The elders are overseen by our founding pastor, Leslie Akin. All elders are overseen by Overseers. The Overseers function as spiritual leaders for others outside of Luke 10:27. They are Mike DiMaria, Joel Wilson, Don Nichols, Dr. Durwin Walker, and Dr. Michael Ferris.
Luke Trustees: Responsible for the buildings and grounds of Luke 10:27 Church. They are Miles Miller and Marcus Bridges, Jr. (Co-Chairs), Marsha Boutte, Ted Hansen, Cathy Henderson, and Bryan Cowart.
Luke Deacons: Responsible for caring for the needs of the Luke family. They are Becky Walding (Chair), Tara Chapman, Bart Kennedy, Danielle McCants, Shin Shupe, Edna Watson and Kelley Kennedy.
People of Luke 10:27 Church: Responsible for serving all others in love (Gal. 5:13).
