Leslie Akin

Leslie is the founding elder for Luke 10:27.  Along with her husband, Frank, she received her Masters of Divinity at Candler School of Theology, Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and  was ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church.  After serving as the Louisiana Conference Council Director and the Senior Pastor of First United Methodist Church, Denham Springs,, she responded to a prompting from the Lord to begin a trans-denominational church, Luke 10:27.   Currently, she is working on her doctorate of ministry with Fuller Theological Seminary. Leslie and Frank’s oldest son, Rory, is married to Coral Neuhrohr and they have two sons, Walker and Aiden.  Their youngest son, Chris, is married to Kathryn Walker and they have two daughters, Olivia and Caroline.  In her spare time she loves to read, swing,  and climb trees.

Frank Akin

As well as serving as an elder at Luke 10:27, Frank serves as the Executive Director of SELAH Ministries (food pantry, emergency funding) and acts as the volunteer Manager of The Whistle Stop Coffee Shop. After almost 20 years as CEO of a family business, he was called into ordained ministry.   Along with his wife, Leslie, he received his Masters of Divinity at Candler School of Theology, Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and  was ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church. He enjoys golf and watching all sports.

Debra St.Romain

Debra has served Luke 10:27 since its formation in 2000.  Currently she is serving as Administrative Elder at the church.  A retired school teacher from Livingston Parish, she began her work as a minister in 1994, in the United Methodist Church.   Born and raised in Monroe, Louisiana, Debra met and married her husband of 31 years, Mike, there and moved to Baton Rouge to live.  They have one son, John, who serves as a worship leader at Luke 10:27.

Nancy Hill

Nancy along with her husband David, has been part of Luke 10:27 since its inception.  She takes delight in following God’s call no matter   what that may  look like.  From leading Worship to taking out the trash she always strives to serve Him with JOY!  Nancy and David have lived in Denham Springs for over twenty years and raised two wonderful sons here. This community is their home and they love living and serving here. In addition to serving as an Elder at Luke 10:27 Nancy has a career in State Government. As Senior Lab Technician for The Department of Transportation Soils and Aggregates Laboratory,with over thirty years experience, she helps keep the bridges of Louisiana safe for the traveling public.

Gary Chapman

Gary Chapman has a rich history of being an advocate for hurting people in a hurting world.  That is what makes him the ideal Elder to oversee the Missions of Luke 10:27.  Ordained as an Elder in 2006, Gary has been a part of Luke 10:27 since its inception in 2000.  Born in Memphis, Tennessee and raised in Columbia, Mississippi and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Gary met and married his sweetheart, Tara.  He has two married daughters, Misty and her husband, Jason Regan, and Heather and her husband, Kevin Acord,  and a son, Gary, III.  He is blessed with three grandchildren, Nannette Regan and Jackson and Cooper Acord.  Gary is currently employed at ExxonMobil Chemical as Process Operator and has been employed there for 12 years.

Michelle Lavergne

Michelle  lives in Denham Springs with her husband Greg and daughter Siena.  She loves the way Christ reveals himself through music, sacraments, and the ordinary.  Her desire is for p eople to know their worth in God’s eyes.  She was ordained at Luke 10:27 in 2008.  As owner of Leaps and Bounds Sports Center, she also ministers to the children and youth of Livingston Parish.


Durwin Walker

Durwin Walker, a prominent physician in Denham Springs and a founding member of Luke 10:27, serves as an Elder at Luke 10:27 and is a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Creating a unique bridge between the Catholic and the Protestant Church, Durwin uses his gifts of teaching and counseling to serve the Body of Christ.  Durwin is married to his high school sweetheart, Cindy.  He has four children, three of which are married.  They are Patrick and wife, Erin, Matthew and wife, Holly, and  Kathryn and  husband, Chris Martin.  His son Douglas attends LSU.  He has two beautiful granddaughters, Olivia and Caroline Martin.
