As a Missional Church, Luke 10:27 Elders support the non-profit ministries God has birthed at Luke 10:27. Specifically, our missions and ministries were created to bridge ethnic diversity in our community and bring healing to the people of our Greater Baton Rouge community.
Elders at Luke 10:27 function in the 5-fold ministry: pastor, prophet, teacher, apostle and evangelist. At Luke 10:27, the word elder describes those persons who have been set apart by God to spiritually lead the body of Christ. When an elder receives a word from the Lord to share with the body, he or she lets Lonnie know and is scheduled to preach. Leadership decisions at Luke are not made by voting; but through prayer and consensus.
The elders are overseen by our founding pastor, Leslie Akin. All elders are overseen by Overseers. The Overseers function as spiritual leaders for others outside of Luke 10:27. They are Mike DiMaria, Joel Wilson, Don Nichols, and Dr. Durwin Walker.
Luke Trustees: Responsible for the buildings and grounds of Luke 10:27 Church. They are Jose Ibarra (Chair), Marcus Bridges, Jr., Marsha Boutte, Ted Hansen, Linda Landry, Bill Taylor, Bryan Cowart, and Kelly Jennings.
Luke Deacons: Responsible for caring for the needs of the Luke family. They are Danielle McCants (Chair), Shin Shupe, Tara Chapman, Edna Watson, Bart Kennedy, Kelley Kennedy Alysia Bridges, and Judy Walker.
People of Luke 10:27 Church (our Church Family): Responsible for serving all others in love (Gal. 5:13).
