Greetings Luke family,

This time of year is often associated with harvest and thanksgiving. Both harvest and thanksgiving are special and wonderful. Although it is good to have these on our minds all of the time, it is also good to have a special time set aside to focus on these as well.

Scripture tells us that “the harvest is plentiful” and we know this is true. So many people need love and are hopeful that experiencing love is something that will happen for them soon. Loving someone for whom love is foreign is such an amazing experience for all involved. As agents of love, we are invited to go out and love as Jesus loves. For those of us that have experienced love like this, we know how truly life giving it is, and can experience the beauty of life lived with and in love like Christ’s.

And for this, we can be thankful. Giving thanks for the love God is, giving thanks for the love that God shares, and giving thanks for the love we experience while also sharing his love. Living in thanks seems to be a way to live in the joy of the Lord, or in times of trouble at least face towards it. Living in thanks is a lovely way to live in celebration, and when not celebrating, to be on the verge of it. The lifegiving joy of spontaneous celebration when we express thanks is so amazing! Even more so when we are doing it with others!

During this time set aside for harvest and thanks, let’s go together, love and be grateful. Lovingly grateful for who God is, and embracing the opportunity to share love and thanks with others. What a time of year!

Love and thanks.
